Biodiesel!
On Sunday I got to check out a local homebrew biodiesel setup. This guy has been making and using it for 2 years to heat his home and power his 2 vehicles for around .75 per gallon from waste vegetable oil (obtained for free from restaurants).

No, that gets you involved with issues like fuel standards and taxes.
Why don't you try to set up something like that in your garage. You don't have diseal cars but if you could heat your home with the stuff and have chris help you out and he could heat his home I bet you could save lots of money every winter. Even when the dollar comes back up do you think gas and desiel prices are going to drop significantly? I doubt it will at all.
